People With Disabilities ACT (PWD ACT) is holding another Morning Tea on the Third Thursday of the month! Come along to hear about the activities of PWD ACT, discuss disability issues, and make new connections over coffee, tea and snacks. At this event we’ll be focusing on the topic of Accessible Transport. Representatives from Transport Canberra and the Light Rail project will be joining us to speak about these issues!

Please register via Eventbrite by Wednesday 16 May 2018.

Under the National Disability Strategy (2010-2020) all Australian governments (Federal, State and Territory) are committed to:  “A public, private and community transport system that is accessible for the whole community” (Policy Direction 4 under “Inclusive and accessible communities”).

In 2016, People With Disabilities ACT included a policy statement on Transport as one of it pre-Election Platforms – highlighting the need for ACTION buses to comply with the Transport Standards of the Disability Discrimination Act, and other issues in relation to taxis, light rail infrastructure and ride sharing apps, like Uber.

The second volume of The Canberra Disability Review also featured articles on these issues.
