DISABILITY PLATFORMS FOR THE 2016 ACT ELECTION
The ACT Election is due on Saturday 15 October 2016 and with four weeks to go People with Disabilities ACT has launched five platforms that spell out our priorities for voters and candidates in the election.
Key asks include mandated adaptable and visitable housing to the Liveable Housing Standard and a commitment that all ACT ACTION buses become compliant with DDA Standards through an accelerated timetable across the life of the next Assembly. The platforms also call for dedicated and resourced work on access and to maintain an independent NDIS with adequate ILC funding.
The priorities were launched at a well-attended rally on Saturday 17 September in Woden Square. A number of ACT election candidates announced commitments to disability at the Rally and we will keep you updated via PWD ACT’s Facebook page in the days to come.
